We are blessed with many gifted people dedicated to supporting the church ministry by volunteering their time and talents. The elders and deacons of the church play an acitve role in both ministry and mission.
The church office is staffed with volunteers Monday thru Friday from 9:00 AM to Noon. The bulletin and a monthly newsletter is generated by volunteers.
Church members try very hard to make visitors feel welcome and "at home." The congregation as a whole is very friendly and outgoing. Members step up when special needs arise and usually exceed the necessary goal.
Our church was the first religious organization in Mitchell in 1879. By 1882 a lot at 4th & Rowley was secured and a new church building was dedicated in May 1882. In May of 1952 the church in which we currently worship was constructed. We are blessed with a design that is easily accessible for worship and fellowship. Last summer air conditioning was installed in our sanctuary.
With a continuing spirit of renewal, programs are growing. Worship has been a focal point with increased attendance. Sunday school and adult Bible study continues. On occasion there are special activities for youth. Mission activities and out reach have expanded ranging from local issues such as the Food Pantry, Safe House, Meals on Wheels, lap robes for our wheel chair bound members, to national and international programs that include the Hunger Fund, the Heifer Programs, and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. The Fellowship program continues with innovative programs and special events.
